Appeal Filed to Overturn Acquittal of Bogdanović and Sladoje for Grbavica Crimes

The Federal Prosecutor's Office has requested the overturning of the acquittal of Slobodan Bogdanović and Goran Sladoje for crimes committed in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Grbavica, while the Defense argued that this verdict should be upheld.

Federal prosecutor Munib Halilović proposed that the verdict against Bogdanović and Sladoje be overturned and the case returned for retrial. According to the prosecutor, the acquittal was not sufficiently reasoned.

The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo in November last year acquitted Slobodan Bogdanović and Goran Sladoje of charges that, as members of military-police forces, on June 13, 1992, they took Bajro and Suad Bešić from their home to a garage and beat them, later transferring them to the Jewish Cemetery, where they used them as human shields. On that occasion, Suad Bešić was killed.

They were also acquitted of charges that in 1992 they came to the home of the Simić family and physically abused Rajko Simić because he was married to a woman of a different ethnicity.

The Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will render its decision at a later date, BIRN reported, as carried by NAP.
