Detention requested for driver and co-driver after fatal accident

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office has proposed to the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo to order one-month detention for the suspected driver and co-driver due to a traffic accident in which one pedestrian was fatally injured and another lightly injured, confirmed the spokesperson for the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office, Azra Bavčić.

She stated that the driver Aldin Subašić is suspected of a serious criminal offense against public traffic safety and failure to provide assistance to an injured person, while the co-driver Almir Balićevac is suspected of the criminal offense of aiding a perpetrator after the commission of a criminal offense.

Detention for the driver has been proposed, she added, due to the risk of flight, the risk of influencing witnesses, concealing evidence, the risk of re-offending, and the risk that the suspect's release could cause public disturbance, while detention for the co-driver has been proposed due to the risk of flight and the risk of influencing witnesses and concealing evidence.
