Detention requested for six suspects in drug smuggling and trafficking

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - After questioning the suspects, the prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office will submit a proposal to the BiH Court for detention of 6 persons, deprived of liberty in the operation codenamed “Transporter”.

Detention measures will be proposed due to the risk of flight and the risk that the suspects, if at liberty, could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as repeat the criminal offense or complete the initiated one.

The suspects who were deprived of liberty are under investigation and are accused of having engaged in international smuggling and unauthorized trafficking of narcotic drugs for a longer period, both from the Western Balkans region to EU countries, and from EU countries to BiH and the countries of the region.

According to the collected evidence, the suspects are connected to organized criminal groups operating in the countries of the region, undermining the security of citizens and the rule of law.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office thanks Europol for its cooperation in this complex operation, as well as partner police and judicial institutions in the countries of the region and police agencies that carried out the operation in the territory of both entities in BiH, including the RS Ministry of Interior, SIPA, TK Ministry of Interior, and KS Ministry of Interior.
