Detention requested for police officer Gačanović, who divulged official secrets to criminals and took money

(Patria) - The acting prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, after questioning the suspect, has filed a motion for detention for suspect Gačanović Fahrudin, born in 1979, employed as a police officer of the DKPT BiH, formerly employed by SIPA BiH.

The suspect is under investigation and is suspected of corrupt practices and receiving gifts or other benefits from several individuals from criminal structures, with whom he maintained active communication using the Sky application, and arranged to provide various classified information from police agency operations to criminal individuals, for monetary compensation in amounts up to 1000 euros.

In this manner, the suspect has realized significant illegal property gain for himself, and caused damage to cases in the fight against serious forms of organized crime, and also endangered the safety of judicial and police officers working on cases against organized crime. The investigation relates to the criminal offenses of receiving gifts or other benefits under Article 217 and violation of secrecy of proceedings under Article 237 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The measure of detention is proposed due to the reasons described in Article 132, Paragraph 1, points b) and c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, namely due to the risk that the suspect, if at liberty, could obstruct the investigation, conceal evidence, influence witnesses or accomplices, as well as commit a new criminal offense or complete an attempted one.

Regarding the other suspect, Admir Arnautović Šmrk, who was deprived of liberty by order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office in a separate case, he will be questioned in the afternoon, after which a prosecutorial decision will be made regarding the detention motion.
