Detention requested for five individuals, they forged diplomas, driver's licenses, certificates of no criminal record, public documents

(Patria) - The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton has submitted a proposal to the preliminary proceedings judge of the Cantonal Court in Tuzla for the imposition of a one-month detention measure for five individuals due to reasonable suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with document forgery and other criminal offenses. The detention measure was proposed for Meho Milkunić (58) from Kalesija, Milorad Popović (52) from Bijeljina, Nurdin Jahić (48) from Tuzla, Branislav Cvjetković (49) from Zvornik, and Sadik Suljić (53) from Sapna.

Milkunić, who was the leader of the organized crime group, is suspected, in addition to the aforementioned criminal offenses, of forgery of an official document and preparation of a criminal offense; Popović is also suspected of preparation of a criminal offense; and Cvjetković and Suljić are also suspected of forgery of an official document.

An investigation has also been opened against N.K. (54) from Tuzla for the extended criminal offense of document forgery, but after questioning, the suspect was released to defend himself from liberty.

Milkunić is suspected that, in the period from mid-2019 to the end of September 2023, in the area of Tuzla Canton and the Republika Srpska, he led an organized crime group, which also included the other suspects with different roles within the group, for the purpose of producing and procuring false public documents for a larger number of individuals, with the intention that they be used as genuine, and in order to acquire unlawful property gain for himself and the group members.

Thus, in the aforementioned period, they produced and procured various forged public documents: certificates of no criminal record, high school diplomas, foreign language proficiency certificates, medical certificates, driver's licenses, entry and exit stamps in travel documents, and other public documents, and in this way obtained significant unlawful property gain for themselves.

The suspects were deprived of their liberty on September 26 in a coordinated operational action called Alterego I and II, carried out by police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (SIPA), in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tuzla Canton and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska. Searches were conducted at several locations in the area of Tuzla Canton and Republika Srpska by order of the Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton and the Republika Srpska Republic Public Prosecutor's Office, with a warrant from the Cantonal Court in Tuzla. The searches and operational action were preceded by checks and investigative actions that lasted for an extended period.

An order to conduct an investigation was issued against them, and they were questioned at the Prosecutor's Office.

The investigation in this case will continue in the coming period.
