One month detention requested for a man from Tuzla who attempted to kill a police officer in Gračanica

(Patria) - The Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton (TK) has submitted a request to the pre-trial judge of the Cantonal Court in Tuzla to impose a one-month detention measure on Kasim Đulbegović (39) from Tuzla due to the existence of founded suspicion that he committed the criminal offense of attempted murder.

Đulbegović is suspected of fleeing from security guards of a supermarket in Gračanica on the afternoon of February 21, 2026, after committing the criminal offense of theft as an accomplice, holding a pistol in his hand.

A plainclothes police officer from the Gračanica Police Department noticed him near the supermarket and issued loud commands for him to stop, drop his weapon, and showed him his official identification, to which the suspect ignored.

When the police officer attempted to subdue and control him, the suspect raised the pistol at close range towards the officer's chest and fired one shot, which passed under the officer's left armpit.

The police officer then subdued the suspect, confiscated his weapon, after which other police officers from the Gračanica Police Department arrived and arrested him.

After criminal processing at the Gračanica Police Department, Đulbegović was handed over to the Prosecutor's Office with a report on the committed criminal offense.

The acting prosecutor issued an order to conduct an investigation and questioned the suspect.
