One-month detention requested for Anel Bećirović, suspected of murdering common-law wife Emira Maslan

(Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office (KS) has submitted a request to the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo to order one-month detention for Anel Bećirović, suspected of murdering his common-law wife Emira Maslan in the Alipašino Polje neighborhood.

Detention has been requested due to the suspect's risk of fleeing, fear that he might repeat the criminal offense, as well as the risk that his release could cause public unrest.

A hearing regarding the KS Prosecutor's Office's request will be held tomorrow before the pre-trial judge of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, writes Faktor.

Bećirović was arrested on Monday evening in an apartment in the Hrasno neighborhood, where he had barricaded himself with a four-year-old child.

During the arrest, he threatened to kill himself, but the police managed to subdue and arrest him, and the child was handed over unharmed to the KS Social Work Center. Earlier that day, he had shot and killed Emira Maslan in an apartment in Alipašino Polje.

Yesterday's report from the KS Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that Bećirović has an extensive police record, including assaulting an official in the performance of security duties, endangering security, and possession and facilitation of the use of narcotic drugs...

At the end of last year, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo issued him a restraining order, prohibiting him from approaching the victim of domestic violence, his common-law wife, within a distance of 500 meters, which was to be valid for two years.
