Protection of citizens' rights as a priority for improving the banking sector

At the last session of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, on the initiative of MP Senad Šepić, the acceptance of the Agreement on new loans for the improvement of the banking sector in BiH was postponed until a discussion is held with representatives of the banking sector in BiH and users of banking services, especially the Association "Švicarac".

In this regard, a discussion was organized today in the BiH Parliament on the topic "Improvement of the banking sector in BiH - Improvement of regulation and supervision of the banking sector in BiH" which brought together speakers from relevant domestic and international institutions such as the Ministry of Finance of BiH, the Central Bank of BiH, the Deposit Insurance Agency of BiH, the Banking Agency of FBiH and others, and Emanuel Salinas, Head of the World Bank Office, attended the discussion.

Issues of citizen protection through mechanisms for improving the banking sector were raised at the discussion.

Improving regulation and supervision of banks, resolving weaknesses in the banking sector, and establishing a new framework for bank restructuring by strengthening the management and operations of entity development banks are priority tasks.

Through the discussion, Šepić requested that the focus be placed on protecting citizens' rights and resolving the status of users, and enabling better conditions and status for users of loans in Swiss francs.

- The focus of the banking system reform in BiH should be directed towards creating better conditions for end-users, citizens, with a special emphasis on resolving the issues and status of users of loans in Swiss francs.

The state and institutions must react, and our discussions in the coming period should be conducted on these grounds, and in this sense, Parliament should and can be a true partner - stated Senad Šepić, MP in the BiH Parliament and president of the Independent Bloc.
