Hunger strike begins: 83-year-old Besim does not use heating, but must pay fixed costs!

Besim Hadžijunuzović, an 83-year-old man, began a hunger strike in front of the Travnik Municipality building this morning due to lawsuits for unpaid fixed cost bills, even though he does not use thermal energy, reports a reporter from the Bosnian news agency Patria.

According to the contract the Municipality has with the company that supplies thermal energy, those who live in collective residential buildings but do not use thermal energy must pay a fixed cost.

As Besim says, he will strike for as long as he can stand on his feet.

- I know that no one will come out of the Municipality and say they will solve our problem. If I started something, I believe I should finish it - Hadžijunuzović tells Patria.

Several hundred residents of Travnik have the same problem as 83-year-old Besim.

- I turned off the steam heating in all rooms except one, but after some time they decided that I must have heating either in the entire apartment or turn it off completely. When I turned it off, that fixed cost started coming in, meaning that my apartment is being heated by other apartments, nonsense, because there is no one above me, and around me there are only a few apartments - says Besim for NAP, who lost the court case and must pay a debt of more than 1,700 KM, which Besim does not have.
I would rather collapse here than pay - says Besim Hadžijunuzović.
