Record from Sad Sarajevo, June 9, 1992: My Muhamed, Fehim and Mirza died, I stopped breathing!

Today, at Sedrenik street 229, in the Sarajevo municipality of Stari Grad, the 24th anniversary of the death of four people, three of whom were children, was marked, writes Patria.

On that fateful day, a shell fired from Serbian forces' positions in the yard of a family house killed three members of the Bojadži family, three children. Fehim Bojadži, who was 17 years old, his brother Mirza Bojadži, who was 12 years old, and their cousin Amina Bojadži, who was 14 years old.

In addition to the three minor members of the Bojadži family, the young man Sakib Prašović, who was 24 years old, also died.

The well-known sports journalist Muhamed Bikić today published his war diary - his record from that fateful June 9, 1992.

Record from Sad Sarajevo, June 9, 1992 /authentic transcription/

I stopped by the house to eat. While I was eating, I called Sedrenik to ask how they were (Uncle Halid was wounded on June 8). My cousin Anisa answered. She said they were alive and well and that shooting was constant. She told me that Safet (her husband), uncles Bakir and Zakir had gone to aunt Halida's because a strong explosion was heard nearby, and smoke was visible. I told her to inform me immediately what happened when they returned. I was walking around the house like a headless chicken.

I called again, Anisa answered. She said they hadn't returned yet. At that moment, as she said that, she said someone was knocking. I waited on the phone line. I heard crying, sobbing... I called Anisa, but she wasn't there. At that moment, Safet answered and asked me how I was. I asked what had happened.

He asked me if I was well and healthy. I asked him again what had happened at aunt and uncle's, and in a heavy and sad voice, he told me: My Muhamed, Fehim and Mirza died. I stopped breathing, I started crying at the top of my lungs and yelling in the hallway, Feke and Caki are gone... They died. I went to the Square for guard duty. It was hard for me for days. I couldn't believe Feke and Caki were gone. My Feko and Caki, how much your Muha loved you. Cruel fate separated us. Your Muha loves you as long as he lives. May the Bosnian land be light upon you and rest in peace!!! - Bikić wrote on that fateful June 9, 1992.
