Tenants of business premises in Stari Grad exempt from rent payments for May as well

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - At the proposal of the municipal mayor, Mr. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, the Municipal Council adopted, at an extraordinary session held today, the Decision on reducing/exempting rent payments for tenants of business buildings and business premises owned by the Municipality of Stari Grad. Activities such as banking, pharmacies, and trade of food products and consumer goods are excluded from this decision.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic and the Decision on declaring a state of natural and other disaster by the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the subsequent measures, numerous tenants of municipal business premises and buildings had their operations suspended. For this reason, also at the proposal of the municipal mayor, decisions were previously made to reduce rent payments for tenants by 50% in March, they were completely exempt from rent payments in April, and today's decision extends this benefit to the month of May.

"As the situation in April repeated itself in May 2020, i.e., due to the complete inability to conduct business activities, it is proposed to exempt tenants of business buildings and business premises who have concluded lease agreements with the Municipality as the lessor from rent payments for May 2020, excluding banking, pharmacies, trade of food products and consumer goods," stated the explanation of the proposal by the municipal mayor, Mr. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić.

The competent services will take measures to implement this decision immediately upon its entry into force.

After a detailed explanation and clarification provided to the councilors by the acting municipal attorney Enes Smajlović, the councilors today also adopted a conclusion giving consent to the municipal mayor, Mr. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, to authorize an adequately qualified person, a lawyer, in proceedings before competent courts and other relevant bodies, concerning lawsuits and submissions by dismissed deputy attorneys.
