Municipalities will finally be able to evict tenants who do not pay from business premises

The Law on Amendments to the Law on Takeover, Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Lease of Business Buildings and Premises, which was today established by the Government of Sarajevo Canton in the form of a proposal, aims, as stated, to find a better and faster solution for cases when tenants do not comply with the provisions of the contract, reports the Patria news agency.  

As stated in the amendments, if a tenant has not fulfilled the contractual obligations of paying rent for the use of the premises and a court proceeding is underway for the collection of debt from four or more unpaid rents, the lessor has the right to terminate the lease agreement for the business premises, i.e., to evict the tenant from their business premises even before a court verdict, with the assistance of the competent authorities of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton.

The proposed amendments should enable municipalities to earlier achieve the possibility of reclaiming business premises from irresponsible tenants and prevent the accumulation of uncollectible receivables, with the possibility of leasing those premises to new tenants, it was announced from the Government of Sarajevo Canton.
