Commission Conclusion: OSA Did Not Violate the Law, Had the Right to Counter-Intelligence Actions

At today's meeting of the Joint Commission for Oversight of OSA's Work and the agency's leadership, it was concluded that the institution acted in accordance with the law regarding documents that leaked from OSA under the operation codenamed "Ušće", reports Patria.

Nikola Špirić, the Commission's Chairman, stated that it was determined that no citizens of Serbia or its officials, nor citizens of BiH, were wiretapped. He emphasized that OSA had the right to conduct counter-intelligence actions in accordance with the law.

An internal investigation will now follow into how documents marked "secret" leaked from OSA. As stated to journalists, the number of individuals who came into contact with the developing document has been narrowed down.

Damir Bećirović, a member of the Commission, pointed out that the BiH Prosecutor's Office will also be involved. The Commission, he said, will likely invite Nenad Stevandić for questioning at one of the next sessions once the internal investigation is completed. Bećirović stated that Stevandić served as a political puppet to undermine BiH's security and jeopardize relations between the two countries.

The conclusion of the Joint Commission was unanimous. The stance that OSA acted in accordance with the Law pleased the Commission members, who stressed the importance of concluding this process as soon as possible to restore damaged trust in the institution and stabilize relations between the intelligence agency and the neighboring country.

As confirmed by Commission member Sadik Ahmetović, OSA Director Osman Mehmedagić and BIA Director Aleksandar Đorđević recently met, and it was a very constructive conversation.
