(Patria) - Moscow has no plans to attack NATO countries, but is taking measures to ensure national security and readiness for any developments, said the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova, TASS reported.
"We will repeat over and over again that we have no plans to attack NATO countries. However, Russia is already taking all necessary measures to ensure security as the alliance strengthens its military presence near Russian borders," she stated at a briefing.
"In short, we are ready for any developments, but we prioritize peace, friendship, and equal cooperation," Zakharova added.
According to her, statements made by officials of NATO member countries on this issue seem to be part of an "orchestrated campaign of indoctrination of their own population, sowing fear and getting people used to the idea that conflict with Russia is inevitable, with the aim of justifying their own misjudgments, mistakes, and even crimes, and explaining the catastrophic economic processes currently taking place in their countries, as well as avoiding any responsibility."
"If NATO strategists are crazy enough to decide to attack Russia, they should not doubt that we will respond using all the capabilities we have, something that the Russian leadership has said many times," she concluded.
