Emergency Session of the House of Representatives of PFBiH Scheduled, Decision on Electricity Price Hike for Businesses Tonight

(Patria) - Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH Mirsad Zaimović has convened the 12th extraordinary session of this house, which will be held online tonight at 8 PM.

There is only one item on the agenda, which is the harmonization of the Bill on Amendments to the Law on Electric Energy in the Federation of BiH, with an urgent procedure designation. The reason for convening this emergency session is to harmonize the House of Representatives of the Parliament of FBiH with the amendments to the amendments to the Law on Electric Energy, which were adopted yesterday by the House of Peoples of the Parliament of FBiH.

The proposed amendment, as stated by proposers Elmedin Konaković and Aner Žuljević, if adopted, will prevent economic collapse, preserve jobs, and stop the orchestrated robbery of both businesses and citizens without any financial shocks.

"The nebulous explanations of the FBiH Government that a drastic increase in electricity prices for businesses protects the electricity prices for citizens is an underestimation of the intelligence of all of us, because it is clear that an increase in prices for businesses will lead to a chain reaction of price increases for everything in FBiH, so citizens' money will be taken from one pocket instead of another.

We are completely convinced that a new, more expert management of EP would resolve this deficit in one business year by selling surplus electricity at real prices and larger quantities of coal. We call on representatives of all parties in the House of Representatives to support the Law and thus enable an end to this economic and social uncertainty that has been artificially created for months due to electricity manipulators," Žuljević and Konaković stated in a joint statement.
