Joint Collegium of the BiH PA rejects initiative to consider execution of European court rulings

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina considers the response of the Joint Collegium of the House of Peoples and the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the initiative of Denis Bećirović, Vice-President of the SDP BiH and delegate in the House of Peoples of the state Parliament, to be shameful. The decision of the Joint Collegium, which clearly and directly rejects the initiative to convene a joint session of both houses of the BiH Parliament on the execution of rulings of the European Court of Human Rights, completely exposes the combined destructive, anti-European policy of the ruling parties. We note that the Collegium of the House of Peoples consists of Nikola Špirić, Bakir Izetbegović, and Dragan Čović, while the Collegium of the House of Representatives also includes representatives of SDA, SNSD, and HDZ BiH, it was announced from the SDP BiH.

"By rejecting the implementation of the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights, the Joint Collegium, or rather the coalition brotherhood of SDA-SNSD-HDZ BiH with their satellites, have openly placed themselves in the service of destroying the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Bosnia and Herzegovina and all its citizens. It sounds unreasonable and unbelievable that the leadership of the highest legislative body of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina openly refuses to enable equality for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and to abolish discrimination confirmed by the aforementioned rulings. By rejecting the initiative of delegate Denis Bećirović, without publicly expressed opposition from any member of the Collegium, the destructive, retrograde policy of the ruling parties at the state level has been completely unmasked.

The Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina, on this occasion, calls on the OHR, the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the embassies of the member states of the Peace Implementation Council to take concrete measures and steps to ensure the implementation of the rulings of the European Court of Human Rights. We believe that this is only possible by withdrawing further support and cooperation with the representatives of parties that refuse to enable civic equality and protect discrimination, and by adopting concrete, active measures to combat discrimination based on identity markers and to sanction the promoters of this fascistoid practice.

In any case, the SDP BiH will remain consistent and continue to insist on introducing civic equality, democratic practice of equal rights, and the value of every citizen's vote, regardless of the unity of the ruling parties in opposing such a principle," the reaction states.
