Joint police operation of MUPs of Zenica-Doboj Canton and Central Bosnia Canton: Six people arrested

(Patria) - On March 1st and 2nd, 2019, during the night hours, joint mixed teams of officers from the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Zenica-Doboj Canton and the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Central Bosnia Canton conducted a joint operation in the border area of the two cantons.

As defined by the Action Plan, the joint operation was carried out at several locations, specifically checkpoints in the border area of the mentioned cantons, where mixed police teams conducted enhanced control of traffic participants, and inspected vehicles, persons in vehicles, and cargo, with the aim of finding items originating from criminal offenses, narcotics, weapons and ammunition, wanted persons, persons illegally residing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as controlling the movement of goods, preventing illegal transport in domestic road traffic, and sanctioning perpetrators of violations of the Law on the Fundamentals of Road Traffic Safety in BiH.

Through the implemented operation, i.e., comprehensive and enhanced control of traffic participants, at locations assessed as security-relevant, in addition to the aforementioned objectives, efforts were made to improve the execution of police work and tasks, in the context of the controls performed. Six persons were deprived of liberty, three individuals connected to committed criminal offenses and three individuals for committed violations of the Law on the Fundamentals of Road Traffic Safety in BiH, 56 violation reports were issued for committed traffic violations, 15 drivers and 4 vehicles were removed from traffic, in 4 cases, a substance resembling a narcotic drug was found and confiscated, and in 86 cases, the identity of persons was checked.

This joint police operation represents a good example of cooperation between police agencies, and forms of joint and coordinated action will be further improved in the future, within the established jurisdictions, in order to provide maximum personal and property security to all citizens, it was announced from the MUP of Zenica-Doboj Canton.
