Joint Commemorative Session on the Occasion of 5 February, the Day of Remembrance for All Fallen Citizens of Sarajevo

On the occasion of marking 5 February – the Day of Remembrance for all citizens of Sarajevo killed in the period 1992-1995 and the 24th anniversary of the killing of 68 citizens in the Markale marketplace massacre, a Joint Commemorative Session of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, the Sarajevo City Council, and the municipal councils from the Sarajevo Canton area will be held from 10:30 to 11:00 at the National Theatre.

The session organizer invites the families of the fallen Sarajevo residents to attend the Joint Commemorative Session, so that together we may pay tribute to their loved ones and our murdered fellow citizens.

Following the Joint Commemorative Session, all participants are expected to lay flowers at the memorial site at the Markale marketplace, where a commemorative program is planned to begin at 11:30.

Twenty-four years ago, a 120 mm mortar shell was fired from aggressor positions in the Mrkovići area, killing 68 of our fellow citizens and wounding 142 others, some seriously and some lightly.
