Zahida Binakaj: Drug production is of exceptional importance for the functioning of a state

The role of a modern pharmacist in the healthcare system is multifaceted, as today a pharmacist is a consultant on therapy for a whole range of symptoms that are allowed to be treated by  a pharmacist, and at the same time is a trainer for young colleagues and pharmacy technicians, a specialist in various branches of pharmacy such as oncological pharmacy, internal medicine pharmacy, said Zahida Binakaj, president of the Chamber of Master Pharmacists of FBiH, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

- What is the same now as it was ten years ago is that the pharmacist is the most accessible healthcare worker and that in the triangle doctor-pharmacist-patient, cooperation between pharmacists and doctors must always be articulated for the benefit of the patient - explains Binakaj.

Binakaj emphasized that it is of exceptional importance for a state to ensure key pillars such as food production, energy production and distribution, and drug production. The Chamber has excellent cooperation with domestic drug manufacturers and through joint projects, two-way communication is maintained for the benefit of the Chamber, Chamber members, and domestic manufacturers.

She stated that there is a need to nurture and improve domestic drug production.

- For pharmacists who are the bearers of drug production, I consider it superfluous to talk about the importance of domestic drug production - says Binakaj.

The pharmaceutical company Bosnalijek is the oldest in BiH, and in that regard, Binakaj spoke about its significance.

- In that company, a large number of my colleagues have found work and opportunities for professional advancement; it is a scientific base when talking about industrial pharmacy and research projects in which my fellow pharmacists also participate. By cooperating through various projects with the company Bosnalijek, I can point out that the Federal Chamber and its members have never encountered a closed door from this company when it comes to pharmacists of FBiH - stated Binakaj.
