ZAGREB Police searched the house of their colleague, wife reported him

(Patria) - Zagreb police arrested a police officer on suspicion of sexually abusing his wife for four years, who reported him, and he ended up in custody.

Police, without revealing details, announced that they conducted a criminal investigation against a "police officer on suspicion of committing criminal offenses from the domain of criminal offenses against sexual freedom committed from the end of 2020 to November 2024 to the detriment of a female person".

During the search of the house and other premises, as well as vehicles used by the suspect, police seized a mobile phone and IT equipment. After the criminal investigation was completed, the suspect was handed over to the pre-trial detention unit, while a special report was submitted to the County State Attorney's Office in Zagreb, police said.

They added that, based on the decision of the head of the Police Academy, the suspect was suspended from duty due to suspicion of committing a serious breach of official duty, and a request will be filed against him to initiate disciplinary proceedings before the competent Disciplinary Court of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

They emphasize that they will not release more details solely for the purpose of protecting the victim's dignity and to protect her from secondary victimization and stigmatization by her environment.

- Despite the victim being aware that the suspect is otherwise a police officer, she turned to the police with full confidence. We call on and encourage all victims of sexual offenses to act in the same way - announced the Zagreb police.
