Bajaga's concert ban divides Croatian public

(Patria) - The cancellation of Bajaga's concert in Karlovac due to the opposition of Croatian veterans' associations has divided the Croatian public. The popular portal Index calls former members of the Croatian army "prohibitors". Some of the public believe that veterans have their merits in society, but that the state cannot be held hostage solely by their decisions.

The popular singer from Serbia was supposed to perform as part of the Beer Days in Karlovac, but the concert was cancelled due to the opposition of veterans' associations from that city. The organizer then invited the Croatian band "Hladno pivo", which refused the invitation.

"This move by the guys from Hladno pivo... they are great guys, hats off! And if the situation were reversed, I would have acted the same way. I think it was cool, very collegial, and brave of them," Bajaga told Glas Istre shortly before the concert in Pula, commenting on Hladno pivo's refusal to perform as a replacement band.

Glas Istre writes that after the Karlovac authorities slammed the door in his face due to the disapproval of some veterans, and then Hladno pivo showed solidarity with him, Bajaga was welcomed with great emotion by about 5,000 fans and admirers of his rich singer-songwriter opus last night in the well-filled Pula Arena, especially those who grew up with his songs during the 80s.
