Fun on Baščaršija for First-Graders from Old Town

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - First-graders from elementary schools in the Old Town gathered today on Baščaršija Square where the Municipality of Old Town organized a festive reception for them with a play, distribution of backpacks, school supplies, and sweets. This year, 280 first-graders were enrolled in the Old Town, which is a slight increase compared to the previous year when there were 240. The festive reception has become a regular annual event organized by the municipal Service for Education, Culture, and Sport, and this year it was held for the first time on Baščaršija Square.

Even the changeable weather and the rain that woke up the first-graders this morning did not affect their mood. The schoolchildren socialized with mascots Mickey and Minnie Mouse on Baščaršija today, and then enjoyed a magic show.

The municipal mayor, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, wished the first-graders and their parents a happy start to their schooling.

- You, dear children, are sitting in school desks for the first time, and in a few years, you will leave them smarter, more mature, and much taller than today, with much more knowledge and experience, and ready to bravely step into life and choose your life professions. On that path, do not forget to be happy, to learn, but also to socialize, have fun with your peers, and enjoy every moment of your life. Never forget to respect your parents, teachers, and all those who help you on your life's journey and want to make you good people. Love your friends from the school desks, perhaps those friendships will last you a lifetime, and friendship today is something priceless - Hadžibajrić said.

In addition to backpacks for the first-graders, each class received a package of school supplies, as well as baskets of sweets to enjoy at school. First-graders from six elementary schools from the Old Town and the Mjedenica Institute attended the fun on Baščaršija Square.
