31 car stolen in Sarajevo in six months, 19 returned

(Patria) - In the period January - June 2023, in the Canton of Sarajevo, according to official records of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Canton of Sarajevo, 1,898 incidents with the characteristics of criminal offenses were registered, an increase of 2.9 percent compared to 2022.

Unlike 2022, the first six months of 2023 saw an increase in car theft cases, with 31 vehicles stolen in six months. Of these, 19 were found and returned to their owners. The number of stolen motor vehicles increased by 11 or 55% compared to the same period.

In the Canton of Sarajevo, 100 anonymous reports of explosive devices being planted were recorded. Following K9 (bomb squad) checks, it was determined that the reports were false. Four individuals were reported to the competent prosecutor's office.

In six months, 23 suicides were registered, four more than in the same period last year.

As part of activities to confiscate illegally possessed weapons and other items, nine rifles, 25 pistols, two hand grenades, 13 knives, four firecrackers, one knuckle duster, and 666 rounds of ammunition of various calibers were seized.

At the same time, 1,131 permits for the acquisition of firearms and 1,115 firearm licenses were issued to individuals.
