EU grant of around 11.8 million euros for the construction of the Tarčin – Ivan section

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda and the Director of the European Investment Bank /EIB/ for Slovenia, Croatia and the Western Balkans Matteo Rivellini signed an EU grant agreement worth 11.78 million euros for the construction of the Tarčin – Ivan subsection.

The grant agreement for financing the construction of the motorway on Corridor Vc was signed correspondentally, without the usual ceremonies, due to the measures taken to prevent the Covid-19 virus.
Thanks to these EU grant funds, works on the construction of a new section of the motorway, approximately 4.9 kilometers long, including two bridges and a rest area on the Tarčin - Ivan tunnel entrance section, will be financed.

Minister Bevanda assessed that this is a project that is not only significant for BiH but also for regional connectivity, as it is part of the Pan-European Corridor Vc leading to the Adriatic Sea.

„This is a project that will bring Sarajevo and Mostar even closer and shorten the distance on this section by connecting the M17 road with Corridor Vc. In addition to faster and more comfortable travel, the construction of this modern road also opens up economic prospects and improves environmental protection,“ emphasized Minister Bevanda after signing the agreement.

The project will be implemented by JP „Autoceste Federacije BiH“, and is part of the total investment through loans from the EIB and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
