In nine months in Sarajevo Canton 8,537 traffic accidents, 16 killed, 954 injured

In the first nine months of 2016, the number of traffic accidents, accidents with material damage and injured persons, as well as the number of injured persons increased. 8,537 traffic accidents (29 more), 7,856 with material damage (28 more) and 681 with injured persons (one more) were registered compared to 2015, according to the report of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, writes Patria.

In traffic accidents in the Sarajevo Canton area, 970 people were injured (47 or 5.1% more), of which 16 people were killed, 954 people were injured, of which 151 seriously and 803 lightly. Among the killed persons, there were: nine drivers, five pedestrians, two passengers. Of the total 954 injured persons, 433 were drivers, 308 passengers, and 213 pedestrians.

Based on statistical data on traffic accidents and injured persons, the largest number of causes of traffic accidents falls into the category of others 7,176 (13 people killed, 598 injured), inappropriate speed 1,244 (two people killed, 321 injured), influence of alcohol 101 (one person killed, 31 injured), slippery road 12 (no injured persons), influence of narcotic drugs two (four injured), damaged road and landslide one traffic accident each (no injured persons).
