70 reports on criminal offences in indirect taxation filed in six months

Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina Goran Salihović held a meeting with the Director of the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH Miro Džakula, where they discussed the expansion of the joint team consisting of officials from the ITA and the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, who work on investigations in cases related to indirect taxation, Patria reports.

The earlier establishment of this team has already yielded good results in prosecuting suspects for criminal offences in the area of indirect taxation, as well as in overall revenue collection from indirect taxes, which in the first six months of 2016 amounted to 3 billion and 106 million KM and were higher by as much as 93 million KM compared to the same period in 2015.

In just six months of 2016, the Indirect Taxation Authority submitted to the Prosecutor's Office of BiH 70 reports on the existence of grounds for suspicion that a criminal offence in the area of indirect taxation had been committed, as well as supplementary reports, notifications and information, based on which it is estimated that the Budget of BiH was damaged in the amount of 9.5 million KM. All these reports will be the subject of future joint work and field activities.
