Wuhan to lift travel ban on April 8

(Patria) – Residents of Chinese Wuhan have been warned to stay in their homes and continue to strictly adhere to the prescribed measures, a few days before the announced further relaxation of restrictions.

City authorities are encouraging vigilance and caution to prevent a second wave of infection through imports from other countries, while gradually lifting measures.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, China has recorded 81,600 confirmed cases and 3,222 deaths. However, the Western public has questioned the accuracy of reports coming from China, for example, until now, statistics did not include citizens who tested positive but were asymptomatic.

In Wuhan on Friday, 31 new cases were reported, including two locally transmitted infections. Four people died.

Although the number has been dramatically reduced compared to February, the leader of the Communist Party in Wuhan, Wang Zhonglin, says that the risk of the epidemic returning is still high due to 'internal and external risks', and that measures must continue to be respected.

However, some measures have already been lifted, and on April 8, the travel ban will be lifted for all those with clear test results.

China will hold a memorial on Saturday for 14 doctors who died from the coronavirus, whom Chinese authorities now celebrate as heroes because they 'sacrificed' themselves for the good of the nation. Among them is Dr. Li Wenliang, who first warned about the new virus in December, for which he was blamed by the authorities at the time for 'spreading false information'.

The Chinese government continues its global campaign to help other affected countries by sharing experience and knowledge, as well as positive reports from within the country, in order to change the damaged reputation and image it has acquired in the world due to the 'export' of the dangerous virus.
