Vujanović refused Putin's invitation to attend the May 9th parade

Montenegrin President Filip Vujanović will not go to Moscow to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism on May 9th, but will speak at the central national celebration of this important date in Montenegrin anti-fascist history in Podgorica that day, reports the Patria News Agency.

This was decided by the coordinating committee for marking the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism, which met in Podgorica on Monday. The committee stated that "the magnificent and lasting significance and value of Montenegrin anti-fascism oblige us to mark this great jubilee".

The Coordinating Committee for marking the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism includes, in addition to Vujanović, who is also the president of this body, the presidents of the Parliament and Government, Ranko Krivokapić and Milo Đukanović, as well as the Ministers of Defence and Internal Affairs, Milica Pejanović-Đurišić and Raško Konjević, and a representative of SUBNOR.

The opposition reacted sharply, and its unofficial leader Miodrag Lekić assessed that Vujanović is "irrelevant in the decision to refuse Russia's invitation to participate in the parade in Moscow on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism, just as he is irrelevant in the political life of Montenegro".
