Vucic's Monstrous Media Machine: The Fiercest Attack on Sarajevo Since the End of the War in BiH!

The way regime media in Serbia disseminated Sefer Halilovic's statement best illustrates how important, if not crucial, media manipulation is to Vucic's rule. Vucic's talent for presenting any situation as a "wise move in defense of the nation" through media spin has once again been demonstrated.

All of Vucic's media machinery is writing in an extremely paranoid way that Bosniaks from Sarajevo are "plotting against Serbs" and preparing bloodshed in Republika Srpska.

Vucic's newspaper Informer yesterday published an "exclusive" report that the Prime Minister of Serbia, after threats of a new war in BiH made by former Army of BiH commander Sefer Halilovic, is considering cutting short his visit to the US and returning to Serbia urgently.

The newspaper writes that Vucic has already spoken with the President of Serbia and the heads of Serbian security services about the latest threats coming from Sarajevo. At the same time, RTS also published an extraordinary report stating that Vucic is concerned about Halilovic's threats.

Vucic's media torture, i.e., spinning and reshaping reality, has not gone unnoticed by leading world media.

"In the fiercest exchange of words since the 1990s war, Serbia on Tuesday warned Bosnia it would come to the aid of Bosnian Serbs if they were attacked as tensions rise in the Balkans ahead of a referendum next week," the Associated Press wrote today in an article titled "War Rhetoric Returns to the Balkans.".

The agency states that Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic said that Serbia "will certainly not allow the destruction or military attack" on Republika Srpska, formed on the basis of a peace agreement brokered by the US, which divided Bosnia.

AP points out that "Dacic was reacting to a statement by former Bosnian Army commander Sefer Halilovic, who said that without Serbian help, Bosnian Serbs would not be able to resist the federal forces (BiH) for more than 15 days.".

AP reminds that Republika Srpska is holding a referendum on Sunday to retain January 9 as the date of its national holiday, which is the date when Serbs in BiH proclaimed "the formation of their state within Bosnia."

During the subsequent war, AP writes, they "expelled non-Serbs from the territory under their control with the aim of making it part of neighboring Serbia. People who are not Serbs living there see that date as a symbol of their expulsion and a sign that Republika Srpska is still a place intended only for Serbs," AP states.

The Constitutional Court of BiH ruled that such a holiday would be discriminatory against Bosniaks and Croats, AP states, and reminds that Russia supports the referendum, while the US and the West are against it. Vucic said yesterday from New York that he would not allow the disappearance of Republika Srpska.

"Republika Srpska cannot be trampled and erased from the face of the earth as General Halilovic and perhaps some others wish. No one can abolish Republika Srpska," Vucic said, writes Slobodna Bosna.
