(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, commenting on the sanctions imposed by the United States against Aleksandar Vulin, reminded that sanctions were also imposed against him, but that he "didn't care at all".
"Sanctions were also imposed against me in 1998-1999, I didn't care at all, to tell you the truth," Vučić said during a tour of the works on the construction of the Danube Corridor.
The President of Serbia also stated that his policy "will not be led by Americans, Russians, or anyone else".
"The policy I am pursuing must be good for Serbia and for the Serbian people," he said.
Vučić also stated that he would respond in more detail on the topic of Vulin on Thursday, assessing that these sanctions "are not due to crime but due to Vulin's attitude towards the Russian Federation".
When asked by a journalist from N1 television whether Aleksandar Vulin can remain at the head of the BIA and whether Serbian state bodies should investigate the allegations of the US Department of the Treasury related to Vulin's connection with crime, Vučić answered that the sanctions against the director of the BIA were imposed due to his attitude towards Russia.
"I haven't noticed that cocaine was found in Vulin's office, but in the White House," he said.
In addition, he was asked about the "I am a bot" campaign, which he supported.
"I stood behind the campaign because they insult people just because they think differently, because of you who think you have the right to destroy other people's lives. You have five accounts, and then you get upset when someone responds to you in that way. I think it is harmful to respond in that way... Who cares about all those lies, and I won't talk on a daily basis about insults. You say on the other side they are mercenaries, well, great, I am the one who is not afraid of you. Serbia that works and builds is much more valuable than Serbia of lockouts, Serbia of decay. You want to force me to think like you...
They found some woman who says she was paid for it. It's the same with Vulin, but I will talk about it in detail tomorrow. But, as far as I can see, cocaine was not found in Vulin's office, but in the White House. I believe it is extremely important to conduct an investigation because it is a general clause they use to write something. You forgot to mention Russia. Sanctions were not imposed on Vulin because of crime, but because of his attitude towards the Russian Federation. But, I will talk about his position in detail tomorrow," said Vučić.
Let us remind you, the director of the Security Information Agency (BIA) of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin, has been placed under US sanctions.
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury has imposed sanctions on the director of the BIA and former Minister of Internal Affairs of Serbia, Aleksandar Vulin. He is suspected of corrupt activities, primarily in spreading Russian malign influence in Serbia.
According to the report, Vulin is involved in international organized crime, drug trafficking, and abuse of public office.
His actions, as stated, have promoted corruption in state institutions in Serbia, which includes abuse of position for personal gain, and this also includes involvement in drug trafficking.
