Vučić: The money we have is thanks to investments from the EU

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that at the summit of EU and Western Balkans leaders, held in Brussels on Friday, 16 leaders of states or governments spoke about the necessity of aligning Serbia with the EU's foreign policy towards Russia.

Vučić said that we should not "go to the other extreme" and "think that we can find a replacement for markets and partners" in Europe, emphasizing that Serbia is on the European path.

"I see that there is hysteria against the EU in Serbia, I just want to tell people - it's nice when we watch TV with a beer and can curse, that's great, but don't forget that the money we have, we have thanks to a huge number of investments and support from the EU," Vučić said at a press conference in Belgrade.

He added that 300,000 people work directly in foreign companies, and "indirectly" 500,000, and that at least two-thirds of these companies are from the EU.

"Although they do not want to hear how important it is for us to decide on sanctions ourselves and how significant both the Chinese and Russians are to us, we are continuing on the European path," said Vučić.
