Vučić: It is a bad message that some in Srebrenica celebrated the verdict against Šešelj

The Prime Minister of Serbia addressed journalists after an emergency session of the Serbian government, which discussed the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal against Radovan Karadžić and Vojislav Šešelj, reports the Patria news agency.

Vučić said that new political turmoil has arisen due to the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal, which, according to Vučić, has a political rather than a legal role. He stated that one of the main roles of the Hague Tribunal was reconciliation.

-There is no doubt that the Hague Tribunal did not fulfill that goal, but instead undoubtedly drove nails into the dormant coffin of the Balkans, said Vučić.

The Serbian Prime Minister reiterated that they are ready to talk with Bosniaks, but that in the future there must be no revenge against Serbs, and he expects that crimes against Serbs will also be punished.

Regarding the verdict against Šešelj, Vučić said that the entire process against Šešelj and everything that happened in it had a political background. He added that he is proud that the Serbian government protected the laws of Serbia as well as the citizens of Serbia, including the citizen Šešelj.

Vučić said he has nothing personal against Šešelj and wished him and his family all the best, but added that he will fiercely oppose Šešelj's policy, which pushes Serbia into the past and isolation.

He issued a call to the citizens of Serbia and all Serbs, saying they have an obligation to respect their own victims and even more so the victims of others. He said that only they fully mourn Serbian victims.

He said it is the obligation of Serbs to respect all victims, victims of all peoples, and thereby show Serbian greatness and be better than others. He also said that it is a bad message that some in Srebrenica celebrated the verdict against Šešelj, and that it would be dangerous if such forces gained majority support from the citizens of Serbia.

He called on citizens to think about whether they want Serbia to return to instability, adding that he is aware that some will say to him, "where were you 23 years ago." Vučić emphasized that the SNS could lose elections due to the national euphoria present in Serbia, Serbian media report.
