Vučić: Kurti is dragging Serbia into conflict with NATO

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today that the desire of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti is to drag Serbia into a conflict with NATO.

Appearing on TV Prva, Vučić said that Kurti is telling untruths when he claims that Kosovo is arming itself because of Serbian bases in the ground safety zone.

"Our bases have been there since the conflict with NATO, and now there are even fewer. He is looking for a sufficient reason for the nonsense he utters, to drag Serbia into a conflict with NATO. That is their political desire and we must avoid it," Vučić stated.

He added that he hopes Serbia will preserve peace, that we are doing our best, and that is why he spoke with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. He said he believes that more effort is needed from the Serbian side and emphasized that nothing is more valuable than peace.

He adds that when some people react emotionally and say that we should "finish with it, no matter what," it means those people do not understand the consequences, and those are that some mothers would have their children returned in a coffin, and that was not necessary.

"It is a better choice that such a thing does not happen. We are investing enormous effort, we are keeping silent about the misdeeds coming from Pristina, we are reacting mildly, not because it is a sign of our weakness, but of responsibility. Whether we will succeed in that, we will see," Vučić said.
