VSSCT on Burzić Case: BiH Prosecutor's Office Letter Sent to Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office for Further Action

(Patria) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC) issued a statement after the BiH Prosecutor's Office opened an investigation in the "Dženan Memić" case against several individuals, including BiH Court judge Dalida Burzić, and the investigation relates to the period when she was the Chief Prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office.

"Regarding the large number of journalists' inquiries sent to the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH/Council) concerning the opening of an investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against the former Chief Prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton and current judge of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dalida Burzić, and the former prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, Meris Ćato, we wish to inform the public of the following:

The Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina sent a letter to the HJPC BiH on 01.9.2022, informing the Council about the adoption of an order to conduct an investigation against several suspects, including Dalida Burzić, who currently holds the position of judge at the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The letter sent to the HJPC BiH was, in accordance with the provisions of the Law on HJPC BiH, immediately forwarded to the Office of the Disciplinary Prosecutor of the HJPC BiH for competent action upon receipt," the HJPC statement reads.

Muriz Memić, the father of the murdered young man Dženan Memić, told Patria yesterday that he expects Burzić to be suspended and that he is ready to organize new protests if the Disciplinary Prosecutor's Office ignores the request of the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
