(Patria) - Acting President of South Korea Han Duck-soo spoke by phone with US President Joe Biden, his office announced on Sunday, Reuters reports.
"South Korea will pursue its foreign and security policy without disruption and strive to ensure that the South Korea-US alliance is maintained and developed," the statement said.
Biden told Han that the steel alliance between the US and South Korea remained unchanged and that the US would work with South Korea to further develop and strengthen the alliance between the US and South Korea, as well as trilateral cooperation between South Korea, Japan, and the US, it added.
Han is the acting president of South Korea following the impeachment of Yoon Suk Yeol on Saturday.
After parliament voted to impeach Yoon, following his brief attempt to declare martial law, Yoon was suspended from presidential duties, and the constitution requires the prime minister to assume the role of acting president.
