(Patria) - Foreign direct investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first six months of 2019 amount to 650.1 million KM, of which 252.8 million in the first quarter, and the rest in the second quarter of 2019. An increased inflow is recorded compared to the same period last year when 423.3 million KM was recorded.
When viewed by components, most investments were realized in the form of equity stakes, which amounted to 304.8 million KM, while retained earnings amounted to 293.3 million KM. Most investments in the first six months come from Russia with 265.1 million KM, followed by Croatia with 114.2 million KM, and the Netherlands with 83.1 million KM.
The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) has enriched the available statistics on foreign investments, as for the first time, amounts of retained earnings are now provided on a quarterly basis. In this way, users will have more detailed data before conducting the complete annual survey on foreign direct investments. It is important to keep in mind that direct investments are a very dynamic category of flows, especially the component of retained earnings, which can change significantly during the year depending on the foreign investors' decisions on dividend payments. Therefore, final annual amounts can differ significantly from interim annual amounts, which should be taken into account when making projections.
