One person was killed on Monday when a car crashed into a group of people standing at a bus stop in the French city of Marseille, reports the Patria news agency.
A pedestrian was killed and another was seriously injured after the vehicle twice ploughed into passengers at a bus stop, police said.
Police detained the person driving the vehicle at the Vieux-Port (Old Port) location in the city centre.
- We do not yet know the motives of that individual - a police official told French media.
The bus stops that were hit are only a few kilometres apart.
Police advised tourists to avoid the area.
