(Patria) - European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced today the presentation of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia and highlighted progress towards a single "Prosperity Framework" with Ukraine and American partners.
Von der Leyen wrote on platform X, after a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, that the upcoming sanctions package is a new form of pressure on Russia to sit down at the negotiating table with a sincere intention to achieve peace.
"As we approach the fourth year of the brutal war against Ukraine, Russia continues to double down on war crimes, attacking civilian infrastructure and homes.
Day after day, year after year, European support for Ukraine remains unwavering.
We are sending hundreds of generators to keep heating and lights on. We have submitted a proposal for a loan of 90 billion euros for the next two years," Von der Leyen stated.
Zelensky previously announced that the next round of trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the US, and Russia on ending the war in Ukraine will be held on February 4 and 5 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
