Saudi Arabian authorities condemn attack in Magdeburg

(Patria) - Saudi Arabian authorities have condemned the attack on a Christmas market in the German city of Magdeburg, which occurred on Friday, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.

At least two people were killed in the attack, including one child, while more than 60 people were injured. Police have arrested the suspect in the attack, who drove a rented car at full speed into a crowd of people at the market.

A German official described the suspect as a doctor from Saudi Arabia who acted alone. The suspect is reportedly 50 years old and has been living in Germany for years.

Namely, Tamara Zieschang, the state Minister of the Interior, said that the man has been in Germany since 2006 and has permanent residency.

The suspect was not registered in German records as a radical Islamist.
