At least two companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina violated the agreement on meat exports from Bosnia and Herzegovina to Turkey, after which the Turkish government introduces rigorous measures against our country, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.
The Turkish government approved the export of 15,000 tons of beef from Bosnia and Herzegovina under duty-free conditions, as support for the people of BiH, after the country was hit by severe floods in 2014. The only condition for meat exports from BiH to Turkey was that the cattle were raised in BiH. However, it has now been discovered that several companies from BiH abused this agreement. They imported meat or cattle from the EU and then placed it on the Turkish market as a BiH product.
Turkey will punish Bosnia and Herzegovina because of this scandal.
Several non-governmental organizations from Sarajevo will demand that the authorities disclose which companies abused the agreement between BiH and Turkey. The price of greed will be paid by other meat processors. Bosnia and Herzegovina's reputation has been damaged, and the entire economy of BiH will suffer millions in damages.
The authorities must impose maximum fines on companies that abused this agreement, or even ban their operations.
The owners of companies that falsified the origin of meat were not satisfied with just that, but also avoided paying taxes in BiH, further harming citizens, writes Patria.
