Authorities (un)realistically downplay concern for agriculture, urgent session of FBiH Parliament justifiably demanded

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Following a meeting between FBiH authorities and farmers, it was concluded that the FBiH Parliament should hold an urgent session to discuss the situation in agriculture. Among other things, the conclusion states that the session must be held within seven days.

The Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, Water Management, and Forestry of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, Ahmed Džubur, said that they demand an urgent reaction to the situation in agriculture.

"Fuel prices have gone very high, fertilizers by 300 percent. The fact is that literally all countries are introducing limitations and restrictions for the placement of their products," Džubur noted, warning that agricultural deadlines are expiring.

According to him, the situation could be very burdensome in the future if appropriate decisions are not made at the extraordinary session.

Husnija Kudić from the FBiH Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management, and Forestry assures that there is no reason for panic.

"We have an extraordinary regime given the circumstances we are in. Commodity reserves have been ordered to provide 50 liters of diesel for agricultural producers. It is not time for panic. Agricultural producers are stable, skilled, and have equipment. We will make this sector more sustainable. We will offer solutions that we will agree upon with agricultural producers," Kudić stated.

Nedžad Bićo from the Association of Farmers of FBiH appealed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, Mirsad Zaimović, to implement the adopted conclusions.
