Authorities must finally ensure guaranteed prices and secure purchase of agricultural products

(Patria) - The Independent Bloc has once again sent an initiative to the competent institutions in BiH to finally adopt a regulation on ensuring guaranteed prices and secure purchase of agricultural products from farmers who work and cultivate the land with difficulty.

Five years ago, the president of the Independent Bloc, Senad Šepić, then a representative in the BiH Parliament, launched this initiative, and since then, NB representatives have repeatedly raised this issue at higher levels, along with a request to ensure the so-called 'blue diesel', but unfortunately, the authorities have been deaf and unwilling to accept this so far.

The Independent Bloc of Una-Sana Canton calls on all municipal councils, mayors, and city mayors from USK to adopt a clear plan and program for the support and development of agriculture and rural areas, and for this to be an integral part of the budget in the coming year, as the pandemic, in particular, has shown how important agriculture is for our overall survival.

One of the most important parts of the Independent Bloc's election platform, even at the local level, is the program of support for agriculture, protection of farmers, and development of our villages. We want to achieve this through the systematic assurance of guaranteed prices and secure purchase of agricultural products at the local level, by providing free seeds and subsidized fuel, and a support system for storing seasonal fruits and vegetables in cold storage facilities that municipalities should purchase and make available to agricultural producers.

These are simple things and demands for which we can and want to use our own resources, as well as resources from European Union funds and cross-border cooperation.
