USK Government Promised Salary Increases for Educators

SARAJEVO, Representatives of education unions in the Una-Sana Canton (USK) and the cantonal government's negotiation team have reached a verbal agreement, which among other things guarantees educators the equalization of their base salary with all other budget users. This most likely means the imminent end of the daily warning strike in secondary schools, while the official signing of the Agreement is announced for one of the coming days.

- I must emphasize that we are satisfied with what has been promised to us and we truly hope that this time it will not remain just promises. Our request for an increase in the base salary has been met, effective from April this year, although we requested it retroactively from the beginning of the year. By the end of the month, the Government should adopt a scale for the transportation of employees commuting to and from work, while by September, amendments and additions to the regulations on advancement and technological surplus should be made - stated the president of the Union of Preschool and Primary Education of USK, Zehra Hadžić.

At today's meeting, the resolution of the problem of procuring energy for several secondary schools in the canton was also discussed.

- We have a promise that this will be resolved by Friday, and we have truly seen a sincere intention this time. We will insist that these problems do not happen again. Tonight, we will inform our entire membership about everything, after which a decision will be made on the possible termination of the warning strike, or the holding or cancellation of the announced protest gathering on Saturday, March 26 - said the president of the Secondary Education Union, Samir Fajić.

The Government of the Una-Sana Canton has announced the swift concretization of the agreement with educators, and they are confident in a positive outcome of the talks and negotiations with representatives of all cantonal union branches.
