RS Government Gives Positive Opinion: Path Cleared for Adoption of BiH Rural Development Strategy

Minister of Foreign Trade and External Relations Mirko Šarović today received a positive opinion from the RS Government on the BiH rural development strategic plan, creating conditions for, with previously obtained opinions from other competent institutions, this framework development document to be immediately sent for adoption by the BiH Council of Ministers.

Minister Šarović will immediately send the strategic plan for rural development for adoption today, and the European Commission delegation and relevant authorities in Brussels will be informed of everything.

Minister Šarović expects that this will enable BiH to access European funds for agricultural assistance and prevent the risk of farmers in both entities being left without significant EU aid.

We remind you that the European Commission has warned on several occasions that the EU is ready to provide support to farmers, but that this significant support will only become available if the strategic document for rural development, in the preparation of which members of the governments of both entities participated equally, is adopted by the end of the year.

The Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers, Denis Zvizdić, also called for the urgent adoption of the rural development strategy a few days ago.

It has been confirmed from the BiH Council of Ministers that an extraordinary session of the Council of the BiH Council of Ministers will also be held today.
