(Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton today determined the Amendments to the KS Budget for 2019, and sent them to the Canton Assembly under an urgent procedure. The new KS Budget, according to the determined proposal, amounts to 1,055,753,000.00 KM.
According to the Minister of Finance, Amel Kovačević, the budget rebalancing was initiated for several reasons. The first is the new projection of revenues from the federal level by the end of this year, which show 28 million more revenues for Sarajevo Canton compared to the current budget. There are also other reasons that led to the budget changes.
"Some projects, as we have assessed in the past five months, were not ready for implementation, so we have allocated funds planned for them to projects that are more ready and that follow the orientation of the 300 guidelines of this Government and Assembly," stated Minister Kovačević.
By integrating the University into the treasury operations system, an overview of their financial situation and needs was made. With the new budget, after additional analyses with the Ministry of Education, the University's additional needs of approximately 1.6 million KM will be financed so that the University's operations are not jeopardized. New funds of eight million KM will be secured to enable the financing of GRAS employees' salaries until the end of the year, which was not planned in the current budget.
Also, 13.5 million KM is now secured for the settlement of costs of out-of-court settlements from labor relations of public sector employees, and a new public call to employees to exercise their rights from labor relations through out-of-court settlements has been announced.
"The proposed budget secures significant new funds for the education sector, specifically for co-financing preschool education in the amount of two million KM for the purpose of eliminating waiting lists for children for places in Sarajevo kindergartens. Additional funds of 1.2 million KM are also directed towards addressing the educational needs of children with developmental disabilities. As announced, funds have also been secured for the continuation and completion of the construction of the Academy of Performing Arts building in the amount of two million KM," announced the KS Government.
The procurement of medical equipment is planned, primarily the procurement of ventilators which are necessary for the healthcare of young people and children in cases of epidemics, and the communal economy will be equipped with new, different equipment worth around four million KM in order to improve the quality of its services.
