KS Government: Ministry of Housing Policy Abolished, New Ministry for Economy and Infrastructure Established

The Sarajevo Canton Government, at today's session, determined the Bill on Amendments to the Law on the Organization and Scope of Administrative Bodies and Administrative Organizations of Sarajevo Canton, which proposes a change in name and establishes the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection, expanding it with the former Ministry of Housing Policy, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

- From the current Ministry of Spatial Planning and Environmental Protection, the area of communal economy would be separated by the proposed changes and the jurisdiction of the new Ministry of Communal Economy and Infrastructure would be established.

As stated in the explanation of the Law's proposer, the Ministry of Justice and Administration of KS, such changes are proposed to more easily overcome problems in the functioning of the communal economy and the difficult financial situation in which cantonal public utility companies find themselves. The need to establish a separate Ministry of Communal Economy and Infrastructure, which would deal with administrative and professional affairs, determined by the Constitution and law, in the field of communal economy, has become necessary.

Furthermore, these amendments abolish the Ministry of Housing Policy, and the affairs within the jurisdiction of this ministry will be transferred to the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection, considering that the jurisdiction in the field of housing policy, including the adoption of regulations concerning the arrangement and construction, renovation and reconstruction of housing facilities and housing inspection affairs, can continue to be carried out smoothly within the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Construction and Environmental Protection. The final word on this Bill will be given by the deputies in the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton.

Today, the Government also determined and sent to the Assembly the Bill on Salaries and Allowances in Public Institutions in the Field of Social Protection in Sarajevo Canton, the Draft of which has undergone public discussion in the past period.
