KS Government to meet with union representatives tomorrow regarding salary increases

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Government has scheduled a meeting with representatives of employee unions whose salaries are paid from the KS Budget for tomorrow, as it values the importance of social dialogue and cooperation with union organizations. The KS Government's stance is clear: discussions on salary increases for employees paid from the KS Budget are necessary, given the significant rise in the cost of living.

In this context, it is important to state the facts about average salaries in the Sarajevo Canton by sector:

Primary education                 1,247.90 KM
Secondary education                   1,262.98 KM
Cultural institutions                         1,441.20 KM
Social protection institutions           1,201.06 KM
MUP                                            1,200.44 KM
Police Administration                            1,625.28 KM
KS Ministries and Services              1,551.87 KM
University of Sarajevo                   2,259.13 KM.

These salaries are increased by amounts for past work, hot meals, transportation, vacation pay, and other allowances, in accordance with the law and collective agreements.

To meet the unions' demands, an additional 115 million KM annually is required in the KS budget for employee salaries and contributions. In addition to this, the Communal Economy Union is demanding a salary increase of 20 million KM annually.

The decision to increase salaries cannot be considered separately from the final outcome of the proposed amendments to the Law on Public Revenue Distribution in the Federation of BiH, which, if adopted by the FBiH Parliament, would have catastrophic consequences for the Sarajevo Canton budget.
