KS Government Declares State of Natural and Other Disasters

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Government of Sarajevo Canton, at today's Fifth Extraordinary Session, adopted the Decision on declaring a state of natural and other disasters in the Sarajevo Canton area.

This decision was made based on the Decision of the Federal Government on declaring a state of disaster in the entire Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, dated March 16 this year.

In this decision, and for the protection and rescue of people and material assets in the endangered area, the KS Government has determined that all cantonal ministries, independent cantonal administrations, administrative organizations, public institutions and organizations, as well as public enterprises and other legal entities, and competent municipal civil protection headquarters, shall make all resources available to the Civil Protection Headquarters of Sarajevo Canton, which will be used in the endangered areas according to the protection and rescue plans for people and material assets.

It was also ordered that all cantonal ministries, independent cantonal administrations, administrative organizations, public institutions and organizations immediately organize work in order to implement the orders of the KS Civil Protection Headquarters. The KS Civil Protection Headquarters was ordered to, in accordance with the expressed needs in the endangered areas, engage appropriate cantonal protection and rescue services and cantonal specialized civil protection units, as well as other legal entities, public enterprises and citizens.

Costs incurred by the engagement of the KS Civil Protection Headquarters, cantonal protection and rescue services, specialized civil protection units, as well as additional planned engagement of missing resources during the implementation of protection and rescue actions for people in endangered areas, will be covered from the funds of the special fee for protection from natural and other disasters, as well as from the regular budget funds of the KS for 2020 and other financial sources in accordance with applicable regulations.

The KS Civil Protection Headquarters is tasked to, in accordance with its authorities, take over all coordination and leadership activities of protection and rescue actions in the endangered area from the moment this Decision enters into force, until a decision is made on the termination of the state of natural and other disasters.

The KS Civil Protection Headquarters and the KS Cantonal Civil Protection Administration are obliged to regularly report on the measures taken to the KS Government and other bodies in accordance with laws and other regulations.
