KS Government Still Without Decision on Subsidy, Citizens to Pay Up to 40 Percent Higher Gas Bills

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - KS Prime Minister Edin Forto confirmed that the KS Government has not yet made a final decision on how to respond to the gas price increase, which would mean an increase in bills for KS citizens by 40 percent, if the subsidy paid by the Government for November and December is not continued.

We remind you that gas prices have increased by more than 23 percent since November, and by another 15 percent since January of this year.

"The largest consumer of gas in Bosnia and Herzegovina is Sarajevo Canton and the citizens of KS. This is also a major blow to the budgets of citizens and companies. We have already prevented one increase with subsidies. We will discuss within the Government during these budget debates whether we can and how we could possibly cushion this additional price increase, or perhaps we will not be able to and will have to pass on some of this additional price increase to consumers," Forto told Polis.

He reminded that the base salary for workers paid from the budget has been increased, while in utility companies, an increase of 80 or 100 KM has been enabled precisely because of the increased cost of living.

Sarajevo Canton is without a budget for 2022, and a decision on temporary financing for the period January-March is in effect.
