SARAJEVO, (Patria) – Minister of Agriculture Šemsudin Dedić stated that measures in agriculture, presented 20 days ago, are being implemented.
"The most significant activity is support for spring sowing, and a public call for municipalities and cantons is underway, for which 9.5 million KM has been allocated. Instead of 2,000 beneficiaries who used subsidies, this number will be 17,000 agricultural producers this year. We are preparing a program for autumn sowing. Today, we started paying subsidies to 3,500 agricultural producers in the amount of 8 million KM".
Dedić stated that an agreement has been signed with the Development Bank, and a favorable credit line is available to farmers if they wish to increase their production or livestock.
"The Federal Headquarters has amended its order, so our farmers who operate machinery or are over 65 years old have no movement restrictions", said Dedić.
He announced that at tomorrow's Government session, the rebalance of the FBiH budget in the amount of 5.5 billion KM will be adopted. The previously adopted budget was in the amount of over 4.9 billion KM. He explained that some previously foreseen budget items have been reduced, and social categories are maximally protected.
"At tomorrow's Government session, we will adopt the rebalance of this year's budget, with the agriculture budget being maintained. These must not be one-off measures; BiH must continue with food production because only then can we be less dependent on imports. For years, we have heard criticism about why we provide subsidies for dairy farming. If the borders were to close now, we would have enough for our population", said the minister.
